How to Give Akumal Kids the Best Summer Ever!

One of our favorite local Akumal organizations is in need of your help!

Akumal lovers are all familiar with The Hekab Be Library, a colorful building set on the main road to Akumal Bay. But this place is more than just a library: they provide all kinds of learning and fun for the local children! From swimming excursions to field trips to art lessons and language, Hekab Be is a place where kids can go to play with other kids and learn in a vibrant environment. This year, Hekab Be is planning a Summer Program called “A Cultural Journey Around the World”, and they are in need of your donations to make this a special experience for local Akumal kids.

Mexico kids charityHekab Be’s goal is to raise $6000 dollars to cover the costs of their upcoming Summer Program, as well as the many wonderful free activities they offer kids throughout the entire year.

The Summer Program begins Monday, July 18 and runs through Friday, August 12, and this year they’ll be focusing on traditions around the world! This summer at Hekab Be, kids will have the chance to learn about languages, dress, customs, music, food, history and culture in the fun, interactive and educational atmosphere of Hekab Be. As always, the library will be featuring lessons, crafts, games and more throughout the Summer Program.

Hekab Be says,

“The Summer Program at Hekab Be Biblioteca is such a wonderful time for the children of Akumal — special activities, new friends, and lots of learning to keep our busy minds active! We have less than a week before our ‘Cultural Journey Around the World’ begins, and we are just over halfway to our financial goal. We really need your help!”
